State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) is a not-for-profit cooperative financial institution owned by and operated for the benefit of our member-owners. SECU’s members share a common bond: employees of the State of North Carolina, public boards of education, and employees of associations formed for the benefit of State employees, and their immediate family members. Our mission is to be the trusted provider of financial services to every eligible member, and to enhance their lives and financial well-being while maintaining our fiscal strength.

The State Employees' Credit Union motto is ''People Helping People'' and we operate under the working principle of ''Do the Right Thing.'' As a not-for-profit cooperative association, the purpose of State Employees' Credit Union is to: Promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity to accumulate their savings; Create for them a source of credit at a fair and reasonable rate of interest; Provide for it's members an opportunity to use and control their money to improve their economic and social condition.
